13日から本日、22日までロンドン・ジャズフェスティバルなるものがやっておりました。
東京ＪＡＺＺというのも確か9月にやっていたようでＮＨＫＦＭでも流していましたが、ロンドンでもあるんですね。知りませんでした。
主な出演者を見てみると、東京にも出演していたジョン・スコフィールドがロンドンにも出ていたようですね。アラン・トゥーサン、ベラ・フレック、ビル・フリゼール、チック・コリア、ソニー・ロリンズなどなど錚々たるものです。最近その名を覚えたばかりのメロディ・ガルドーもリストに載っていますね。

The music of guitarist/composer Bill Frisell evokes an intensely personal vision of America. Echoes of rural blues, bluegrass, rock 'n' roll and jazz collide within a completely original musical world. He revisits an old alliance with a kindred spirit, the gifted composer/arranger Mike Gibbs - an iconic figure in British and international jazz - in a new collaboration that places Frisell's unmistakable guitar improvisations within a sweeping orchestral landscape. Music by Copland and Ives set the scene for this BBC commission.
